Nippers

On behalf of the Wamberal SLSC U/6’s-U/14's age managers, I would like to welcome both new and current members to the club for the 2010/2011 season.

Throughout the nippers season we must emphasis and maintain that “Fun” is what Nippers is about. This is achieved mainly through the interaction you have with your child each Sunday. Wamberal SLSC asks that you don’t place too high of an expectation on your child. Encourage them to participate, congratulate them on their efforts, and note the improvement as the season progresses. Remember, nippers is not about winning medals, but participation, learning surf skills, meeting new friends and having fun.

By teaching children how to compete on the sand and in the surf, we aim to improve their capabilities and surf awareness. During the year certain proficiency awards are to be obtained by the children. This is an ongoing process for the 8 to 14 year age groups. Hopefully one day our nippers will be patrolling our beaches to ensure they are safe for the community.

As new parents to the club you will regularly hear, “if you can swim at Wamberal then you can swim anywhere”. The club endeavours to undertake that commitment by teaching children the surf skills required to be confident in the water and to learn the basic Surf Life Saving Techniques. Safety is and will always be our number one priority.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy the 2010/2011 season. Please don’t hesitate to talk to myself or any of the age mangers or executive committee member if you have any ideas or concerns regarding our club.

Yours Sincerely,

Adam Phillips
Director of Membership U/6’s-U/14’s.
